Our capabilities and expertise can help guide you with the appropriate ocular hypertension model to meet your study goals, including all necessary study endpoints.

Ocular Hypertension Model Endpoints

We offer a comprehensive suite of analytical endpoints that provide complete structural and functional assessment of your investigational product in our models.

Our animals undergo PRT prior to study initiation for accurate IOP results. This provides the most reliable data for IOP. IOP is measured at several timepoints throughout the study duration.

There are observable morphological features within the eye as an outcome of increased IOP. We provide clinical assessments from fundoscopy throughout the study.

In need of further target validation? Ichor also offers western blots, qPCR, ELISA, and flow cytometry. Your study details matter to us.

The effect of sustained ocular hypertension causes retinal ganglion cell (RGC) death. With OCT we capture retinal segmentation measurements of the inner retina and total retinal thickness.

We provide immunohistochemistry (IHC)/immunofluorescence (IF) services for both retinal flat mounts and retinal cross sections. This allows for a holistic view of the effects of your product throughout the retina.

Laser-Induced Ocular Hypertension Model

oh_laser_iop@2x

The Phoenix MICRON IV® laser injector offers laser ablation with sustained increases in IOP. This is a common and preferred model for many ocular hypertension studies and can be complemented with a range of analytical endpoints including IOP, OCT, fundoscopy, and histology.

Structural Changes in Ocular Hypertension

oh_oct

OCT Changes after Laser Induction

Cell death and subsequent thinning of the RNFL-IPL are characteristic of ocular hypertension models, including the laser induction model. OCT captures changes over time.

Quantification

In addition to qualitative assessments, OCT changes after laser induction can be quantified at one or more time points.

Frequently Asked Questions

We would like to hear any questions from you but below are several frequently asked questions.

Yes. We also can provide IHC/IF on retinal flat mounts and stain optimization.

Yes. We perform visual evoked reponsed (VER) for our glaucoma models. Should you require functional readout, we can provide this service.

We currently offer many common ocular hypertension models, including laser-induced, microparticle, and TGF-β, among others. Need a new or customized model? We offer that too! Contact us to discuss your project needs.
